The heart of the fashion industry is the production. The business of accessories is so whimsical yet so creative, so fun yet so profitable. If one doesn’t get this right, people won’t come back. It is all about finding your SIGNATURE PATTERN and presenting it in such a way that it connects with the customers.
So my project was all about understanding fashion production – from creating a business plan to sample collections to the factory prep and finally making the sale. Through this project I learned the minute details about fashion production and also the real cost behind transforming an inspiration into a product
Here is an example of the break-up of the cost of different materials used in making a beautiful yet affordable necklace –

Black Metallic Bead Necklace
1 Packet of rectangular black beads (70 pieces)
– $2
1 Packet of small round black beads (4 pieces)
– $0.25
1 Packet of diamond beads
– $1
1 Packet of end buckles
– $0.25
5 round metallic beads with Colored Stones @$0.5 each

Total Production Cost – $10.5
20 % Profit

So this is how the production cost is calculated in the fashion industry keeping the profit in mind. I hope you you all find this blog informative
